Guard Your Heart: What Are You Letting In?

Guard Your Heart: What Are You Letting In?
Scripture (NKJV)
“Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.” — Proverbs 4:23
What You Let In Matters
Out on the trail, you’re careful about what gets into your rig.
Bad fuel, dirty air, contaminated systems, It doesn’t take much to cause problems.
A small issue can turn into a major failure if it’s not caught early.
The same is true in our spiritual lives.
Scripture says: “Keep your heart with all diligence…”
Why?
Because everything flows from it.
The Heart Is the Source
The Bible uses the word heart to describe more than emotion.
It’s the center of:
your thoughts
your decisions
your desires
your direction
What gets into your heart will eventually show up in your life.
In your words, In your actions, In your choices.
Nothing stays hidden forever.
The Slow Drift
Most people don’t wake up one day and decide to drift away from God.
It happens slowly.
A little compromise here, a little distraction there, a little less time spent in the Word, a little more influence from the world.
Over time, what you allow in begins to shape what comes out.
That’s why Scripture says to guard your heart with all diligence.
Not casually!
Not occasionally!
Intentionally!
What Are You Feeding Your Heart?
Every day, we are feeding our hearts something.
What we watch, what we listen to, who we spend time with, what we focus on.
If we are not intentional, the world will fill our hearts for us.
And the world does not lead us toward Christ.
Guarding with Purpose
Guarding your heart doesn’t mean isolating yourself from everything.
It means being intentional about what you allow to shape you.
It means:
Staying rooted in Scripture
Paying attention to what influences your thinking
Removing things that pull you away from truth
Filling your heart with what strengthens your faith
You don’t guard something unless it’s valuable.
Your heart matters.
This Week’s Challenge
Take an honest look at what you’ve been allowing into your heart.
Ask yourself:
Is this drawing me closer to Christ… or further away?
Is this strengthening my faith… or weakening it?
Make one intentional change this week.
Remove something that doesn’t belong.
Replace it with something that builds your walk with God.
Prayer
Lord,
Help me to guard my heart with diligence.
Give me discernment to recognize what is good and what is harmful.
Strengthen me to remove anything that pulls me away from You, and fill my heart with truth.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
