Refuel: Return to the Source
Scripture (NKJV)
"But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint."
— Isaiah 40:31
Running on Empty
Anyone who spends time off road knows the importance of fuel.
You can have:
the right vehicle
the right gear
the right direction
…but if the tank runs dry, you’re not going far.
The same thing happens spiritually.
Many people are exhausted.
Not because they’re weak, but because they’ve been trying to run too long without refueling.
Strength Has Limits
We like to think we can handle everything ourselves.
Push harder, Sleep less, Carry more.
But eventually, the strain catches up.
Isaiah reminds us:
“Even the youths shall faint and be weary…”
Human strength has limits.
Physical limits, Emotional limits, Spiritual limits.
Ignoring those limits doesn’t make them disappear.
Waiting Is Not Wasting Time
The world teaches constant motion.
Keep grinding.
Keep pushing.
Keep producing.
But Scripture says:
“Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.”
Waiting on God is not laziness.
It’s dependence.
It’s choosing to slow down long enough to reconnect with the One who restores us.
The Source of Renewal
Real renewal doesn’t come from: a vacation, a distraction, entertainment, or temporary escape.
Those things may provide rest for a moment.
But only God restores the soul.
Renewal happens when we:
spend time in His Word
pray honestly
worship sincerely
sit quietly in His presence
That’s where strength returns.
Eagles and Elevation
Isaiah says:
“They shall mount up with wings like eagles…”
Eagles don’t fight the wind.
They rise on it.
The very thing that feels like pressure… becomes the thing that lifts them higher.
God can use difficult seasons the same way.
What feels heavy now may be the very thing He uses to strengthen your faith.
This Week’s Challenge
Ask yourself honestly:
Where have I been running on empty?
Instead of just trying harder this week…
Refuel.
Set aside intentional time with God.
Not rushed, Not distracted.
Just reconnect with the Source.
Prayer
Lord,
You know where I’m tired and worn down.
Help me stop relying only on my own strength and teach me to wait on You.
Renew my heart, restore my spirit, and remind me that true strength comes from You alone.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
